Czech mountaineering legend Standa Silhan died. The Czech mountaineering union web site informed about it on November 1, 2008. Stanislav Silhan was 53 years old.

In Mountaineering encycklopedie by Ivan Dieska he has record with ample list of reliable mountaineering ascents. He was the owner of the wholesale company dealing with outdoor goods.

There is written on his company web site: "he founded the wholesale on his experiences from extreme ascents on sandstone towers, in Alps walls or Himalaya giants and also on treks in Alaska, Argentina, India and other places of the world."

The Czech mountaineering union source mentioned the cause a hart decease.
