The next 23rd International Mountaineering Film Festival (also known as Festak) is comming soon. As posters in the taking place - Teplice nad Metují (North-East Bohemia) announce - (look at the photos from the last weekend), the festival will take place there on August 24-27 2006.
On Saturday July 15 the Czech expedition Broad Peak 2006 represented by: Josef Nežerka-head, Tomáš Kysilka, Klára Matoušková, Pavel Plšek and Jiří Rieger departs to Pakistan.

9.7. at 03:15 am local time two Slovaks Peter Šperka and Peter Kovác reached the top of Broad Peak as the members of Expedition of Tatras Rescuers Broad Peak 8047 lead by Peter Šperka.

Smichov´s Festival of Alpinism continues it's tradition and will take place on 24- 26 November 2006 in Prague, again in The National House in Smichov (Národní dům na Smíchově).

According to provisional information there besides the film projections will be again the competition of Czech Cup in bouldering (Saturday August 26), discussions, exhibitions of photos and others sport and music actions.
Polish high altitude mountaineer Piotr Pustelnik, who reached a lot of eight thousand-metre mountains, plans discussion on Sunday August 27 at 10.00 in the local cinema. The famous Czech and Slovak climbers and photographers Pepe Piechowicz (on Saturday 21.00 and Sunday 10.00) and Igor Koller (Saturday 10.00) plan diashows.

Climbing is one great outdoor sport that doesn't harm the nature. Rock climbers do not, after all, damage the ecology of cliffs and routes they scale!
Its not quite new, plus many boulderers have already had the opportunity to use it.
